Badia a Coltibuono fu fondata dai monaci
vallombrosani quale luogo di culto e
di meditazione. Nel 1051 iniziarono a
costruire questo monastero del “Buon
Raccolto“ piantando contemporaneamente
le prime vigne in quest’area.
Badia a Coltibuono (which means Abbey of
the Good Harvest), dates from the middle of
the eleventh century. In 1051 the monks of the
Vallombrosan Order founded the Abbey and
also began planting the first vineyards in the
Upper Chianti area.
